Description
I wanted to do at least one painting this summer since I haven't really done one in a while. I knew I had some old unfinished artwork from my days at the academy of Art in San Francisco. I found this 39x 23 inch piece of wood that had a failed picture on it. So Itook it out and sanded it down some.
When I had acrylic painting class I used to spray paint the backgrounds( while at home) and then try to find how the models pose could work with what was on the board/canvas already. It got my mind ticking and cut down prep time.
With this one I had the same idea. So I got some Krylon Primer painting and went to work on prepping the board. Using a piece of illustration board as a mask I sprayed design and sort of light bursts . After doing this I figured I had to do something with a light. And I'm a big fan of the Blackest Night / Brightest Day stuff in Green Lantern and the DC Universe.
So it came down to two characters Saint Walker of the Blue Lanterns or Sinestro( I was think of just him in Yellow Lantern suit) But the White Lantern worked well with what I had sprayed.
Anyway, I used Acrylic, spray paint, some ink, a Elmers painter pen and prismacolor pencils in certain areas.
